Before you apply.
Do we need to be trading already?
No. We consider credible startups as well as established social enterprises ready for their next stage. Early-stage applicants should be able to explain the customer need, route to revenue, intended social impact and how the funding will move the business forward.
What can funding be used for?
Funding can support a clear business objective such as equipment, technology, premises, recruitment, product development, marketing, working capital or expansion. We will want to understand the costs, timing and expected commercial and social return. Funding cannot be used for personal expenditure or activity that is unlawful or inconsistent with the stated social purpose.
How long does the process take?
We aim to respond to a complete application within 2 working days. If there appears to be a fit, the next stages normally include a founder conversation, review of financial and company information, due diligence and agreement of terms. The overall timing depends on the complexity of the proposal and how quickly the required information is available.
Will you sign an NDA?
We treat application information as confidential and restrict it to the people involved in assessment. Please avoid sharing highly sensitive trade secrets in the initial application. If detailed confidential information is needed later, we are happy to discuss a proportionate mutual NDA before it is disclosed.
Can I apply for mentoring only?
Yes. Select “Mentoring only” in the application and explain the challenge or opportunity you want help with. We can support areas including strategy, finance, operations, sales and marketing. Mentoring availability and scope are agreed after an initial conversation.
